Hi Karen!

Thanks for your help with our two dogs Sassy and Pistol.

Sassy has gone from a killer dog with Pistol to a playmate. When you arrived one week ago today we went from hardly any hope of getting the dogs together in the same room to having these dogs together & both of them roaming freely in the house.

Pistol is cautious, but yet happy to have a playmate. It's great not to hear that frantic panting that she was going through!

Sassy was a young, newly adopted dog who seriously attacked her elderly pack mate, Pistol, within a short time of her arrival in her new home. Nancy and Don were told that they could never get the two together again. Determined to try, they called BCT. Karen went to hear their story and to provide them with a renewed sense of understanding and a new set of leadership skills. Within a week, Don and Nancy wrote us with the following testimonial. Karen visited to take the photo at left, and was pleased to see that Pistol no longer trembled in fear and stress, but the two mingled freely in the house with close supervision. “My miniature longhair dachshund, Jessie recently finished the BCT Basic Obedience Program. “My husband and I have two ACD Blue Heelers, BO & LOLA. Great dogs, but BO turned very aggressive towards LOLA, attacking her 5-6 times daily. It came to the point that my husband and I decided we would have to put her down. It made me so sad I couldn't even sleep. I decided to call my Vet at White Lake Animal Clinic and see if they knew of anyone that could help us with the aggression problems going on with BO. I am so lucky that the girls at my vet gave me the number for "Balanced Canine Training."

I called the number the same day, in fact immediately, and Karen the trainer came out to our home. She worked with my husband and I and the dogs. I learned I had spoiled my dogs so badly that they were taking advantage of me and I needed to reinforce some rules and give some of what seemed like tough love. IT WORKED! In only a matter of days BO was no longer in charge of my husband and I. And Lola was no longer being attacked daily. Instead, we were now in charge of the dogs. This was a very positive experience and well worth the time and money.

“My German Shepard, Rizzo, was in Karen’s puppy class in the fall of 2004. Her approach to puppy training was very gentle but effective. The experience laid the basis for the commands that I still use today with “LEAVE IT!” being the most important to me.

I recently called Karen to my home to help with Rizzo’s territorial behavior. Since her behavior is very different in a class outside of the house-being able to work on her issues on her own turf gave Karen a better chance to evaluate and decide which corrections were needed.
